ENTRIES NOW CLOSED – NO FURTHER PLACES AVAILABLE
The Bolsover Jester is a 100km audax now in its fourth year organised by Malcolm Smith of Audax Club Bolsover, and originally run by Bolsover & District Cycling Club as a reliability trial.
The date for this event is Saturday 21st March 2020.
Why the name? Well, Bolsover is famous for its castle and a court jester in history is synonymous with putting a smile on people’s faces.
Reliability trials have been around for generations, and unlike some of their modern day cousins, the sportives, they are an affordable way of meeting like minded folk out for a social ride with two main objectives, to make it to the finish safely whilst having fun!
THE ROUTE
The 100km route is mainly flat, but just ask any of our members and they all know that whichever way you leave Bolsover there’s always a climb involved on the way back! Leaving the start venue we elevate slightly to Bolsover and then from there it’s not too long before you are in the beautiful surroundings of Clumber Park. From there you’ll head towards Retford, Clarborough, Mattersey, Styrrup, and then start on the return to Stanfree via Firbeck, Anston, Kiveton and Clowne. All this takes place mainly on quiet roads.
The feedback on the route year on year is only positive. We’re sure that once you’ve ridden it a first time you’ll be hooked.
ENTRY
The ride headquarters will be Bolsover Assembly Rooms, Hill Top, Bolsover, Chesterfield S44 6NG.
The entry fee for this event will be £7.50 which is available via online payment.
Upon entry you will receive a confirmation email and closer to the event there’ll be a further one outlining the basic event information. Before the event takes place you’ll receive the finalised event information and safety guidance you’ll need to make your day run smoothly, including a route to upload onto your GPS device. Out on the road the route will not be marked in any way, so please make sure of the route beforehand.
And finally……… Refreshments will be available for purchase, including tea / coffee, cake and alcoholic beverages. Following on from feedback received last year we can confirm that the cakes this year will be of a much higher standard.
